Morph Freestanding Rooms
We were delighted to collaborate with Alvarium Design on an innovative project in Oxford, where the brief was to create freestanding rooms with a strong emphasis on sustainability and future flexibility.
Designing for Reuse and Adaptability
Alvarium’s goal was to design the office space so that every element of the fit-out could be reused if the client relocated - from the furniture to the partition structures. This aligned perfectly with Morph’s modular design philosophy, allowing for spaces that evolve without waste.
The plan was to use Morph bricks to form the structural framework of the rooms, with Alvarium adding doors, windows, ceilings, integrated electrics, and sustainable acoustic panels to complete the design.
Flexibility in Action
Just an hour into installation, one of the pods needed repositioning — a moment that perfectly demonstrated the flexibility of the Morph system. The half-built structure was simply moved to its new location, and construction continued without delay.
A team of just three people completed both freestanding rooms — each measuring 3.9m x 2.1m — in around three hours, showcasing the speed and simplicity of Morph assembly.
Sustainable by Design
The rooms were constructed using our white recycled ABS Morph bricks, made from post-consumer refrigerator waste that’s collected and processed across Europe through an ISO-certified recycling process. This ensures every Morph project contributes to a more responsible, closed-loop material cycle.
To reduce waste even further, the acoustic wall panels were precision-cut to ensure zero offcuts, using every part of the original panel.
A Design Team That Embraced the Concept
It was inspiring to see the Alvarium Design team fully embrace the Morph ethos — experimenting with modular construction to push the boundaries of what’s possible with sustainable materials.
The result? Two beautifully finished meeting rooms that are strong, quiet, and future-proof — built to adapt, relocate, and be reused again and again.
