Morph RE and Morph Bio Bricks are used to build two partition walls and doorwarys, createing two new office spaces

Room transformation for school in Berkshire

A recent TikTok video, showcasing the decommissioning of a Morph Room, has sparked interesting enquiries from a diverse audience interested in using the bricks in various ways.

One of these enquiries was from a school where there was a need to convert a spacious room into smaller offices for staff, making the best use of existing spaces. The concept of constructing rooms and subsequently reconfiguring components for different layouts resonated strongly with the school staff. They and the school's contractor also recognised the broader logistical and sustainable benefits of Morph.

We explored various options and landed on a final simple design layout, featuring two walls and two doorways to create a "T-shape" partition structure.

Working closely with the contractor, we maximised space by constructing full-height walls between the new rooms, and adjusting the lighting accordingly (facilitated by the removable ceiling tiles). The contractor enhanced security and privacy by installing frames and doors to the doorways.

A significant advantage of using Morph is that the components are delivered in easy-to-handle cardboard boxes – no heavy lifting. In this case, it meant there were no large panels to navigate through the school and this removed the need to work outside school hours, allowing the job to be completed during term time.

There were also no added requirements to empty the room, lift the carpet, or protect furniture from the mess and dust typically associated with building stud walls.

We used Morph RE (recycled plastic) bricks, occasionally interspersed with coloured Morph Bio (biocomposite) bricks to break up the black finish. The result was a swift, dust-free construction process (completed in 3 hours), an efficient installation, and a very happy client.

The Morph system provides a flexible solution to changing needs across the education sector.

The Morph system provides a flexible solution to changing needs across the education sector. It offers a cost-effective adaptable system which can enable Schools and Universities to maximise spaces and budgets by improving layouts to enhance existing rooms, bringing new life to underutilised areas, or creating bespoke adaptable furniture such as staging and tiered seating. Every product can be redesigned to meet changing needs and for example, for school trusts the bricks can be shared across the community.
